Hibernation

Mrs G read the book Time to sleep by Denise Fleming to the class this week.

Well that sparked conversations about which animals hibernate. First we made a list of animals we thought hibernated. Then we asked the class to go home and do some research if they wanted. A few friends came back with some good information. One friend, Lachlan, even brought up the word migration! He explained to the class what that means and who migrates.

We are also making a big class book based on the information we found out! Here are a few pictures:

Yoga in Kindergarten!

The children might be going home and talking about our yoga sessions. Since we need a little more activity this week with the cold weather, we decided to try some yoga with the class. It was a hit! It is called cosmic yoga and you can find it on you tube. There are many episodes! The instructor tells a story and the children follow along doing the movements.

It was so much fun! We will surely do it again! Stay tuned for more. Namaste!

The smart board

We have been playing a build a snowman game on the smart board this week. (since it's too cold to go outside and build on for real!)

Everyone was really excited to play so we decided to make a sign up sheet.

The children took each their turn reading the sentence with the directions. Then they got to pick and add the missing parts on the snowman.

When all the parts were added the snowman sang a song. 1 little, 2 little, 3 little snowmen, 4 little, 5 little,
6 little snowmen, 7 little, 8 little, 9 little snowmen, 10 little snowmen learning to read!

Winter

With the weather being so unpredictable, it might be a good idea to send an extra pair of mittens and socks for your child. It has been very wet outside during recess this week!
