April/May
– K1 & K2
What
an interesting time of year spring is! There are so many things we
can explore and learn from nature. During the month of May we will
continue to observe new signs of spring and will be participating in
the Tomatosphere Project. For this experiment, we will be planting
regular tomato seeds as well as seeds that have been exposed to
space-like conditions (-80C during 34 days) and we will observe how
plants grow and which plants will grow faster.
This
month we will be having a “Scientists in the Schools” workshop! A
scientist will be coming into the classroom to provide the students
with different activities relating to “Backyard Bugs.” We will be
looking for some parent volunteers to help out, so please watch for a
volunteer form being sent home shortly. K1 will have their workshop
on Friday, May 29th in the morning and K2 will have their
workshop on Monday, May 25th in the morning.
Catholic
Education week is happening during the first week of May! From May
4th – May 8th there will be a variety of
special activities for the students and parents to help us celebrate.

In
June we are planning a field trip to the Experimental Farm! The day
will include a guided tour from the farm staff, with some free time
after to explore the barns and have a picnic lunch before returning
to the school. Our tentative date is June 3rd, and we will
be confirming this date soon. We will be needing some parent
volunteers to come with us, so please keep this date free if you are
interested! We will be sending home more information soon about our
exciting trip.
To
all of our kindergarten moms, have a wonderful Mother's Day and may
your special day be filled with lots of hugs and kisses.
